About

Coal Creek Canyon Park and Rec District is a tax-exempt special district agency of Colorado, located and serving the Coal Creek Canyon Community. We are dedicated to our community in offering quality programming that provides valuable, local educational enrichment including, but not limited to: middle school and youth sports, summer camps, STEAM classes, music and art enrichment, adult education, guided Sky Watchers activities, annual celebrations of mountain culture, and engagement of our local K-8 school.

As an unincorporated mountain community with approximately 20,000 residents consisting of 8400 households. The community is accessed via a 10-mile stretch of CO Highway 72 west of CO Highway 93. Coal Creek Canyon comprises areas within unincorporated sections of three counties: Boulder, Jefferson, and Gilpin. The median age of residents is 48; 29% of households have children with members of families with children under 18 years of age. Due to our rural nature, CCCPRD is always looking to expanding its partnerships and reach to expand services.

During 2022 and 2023 with our modest budgets and collective volunteer time, we have been able to engage our canyon families in our community through some of the following programming and projects:

  • Colorado Rapids Stadium Tour (Spring 2023)
  • CCC Kid’s Bike Day with Golden Optimists (May 2023)

  • Challenger Youth Soccer Camp (2 Summer Sessions 2023)
  • Middle Schooler’s Sports League (4 Seasonal Sessions 2023)
